Great bit of PR from Greggs the bakers for Valentines. They are turning a few of their branches into restaurants for Valentines night. More a PR stunt then an actual change in direction for their business. But well done them for thinking creatively and getting a bit of buzz about the brand.
Lucky couples, i use the term lucky very loosely, (if your partner took you to Greggs for Valentines your probably looking at divorce in the near future and thinking about setting up a Tinder profile) will dine out on Gregg’s finest pasties, pastries and cake.
I am a fan of their bread pudding so won’t hear a bad word said against them! Other delicacies on the menu include:
Starter : A composition of canapes – seasoned pork and puff pastry slider, steak and blue cheese en croute, katsu tortilla wrap, Mexican chicken chipotle spoon, bechamel toasted honey cured ham square and tomato gazpacho.- Not very vegan friendly there , tut, tut !
Main : Your choice of signature Greggs puff pastry parcel, freshly baked to order, accompanied by oven roasted spiced potato slices and a garnish of fresh Apollo and spinach leaves and sunblush tomatoes – Doesn’t sound to bad !
Dessert : A brochette of miniature doughnuts paired with a butterscotch flavoured dipping sauce – What ! no bread pudding !
Petits Fours and Coffee Belgian dark chocolate brownie, raspberry and almond bite and caramel shortbread – Decent !
Accompanied by freshly ground Fairtrade coffee. To drink Italian prosecco, soft drinks, still or sparkling mineral water. – Hmmm not sure if they have a licence to serve alcohol – may run the risk of being raided by
trading standards and locked up. Dinner in Greggs followed by a night inside. Memorable – yes – but for the wrong reason !
Would be interesting to see how many couples are still together on Valentines 2019, my guess is not many
